We are still in our first summer series of ABC. We are concentrating on a very fun, direction, rhythmical Cha-Cha with great use of the 11 actions, 4 dynamics, and 4 hip actions

Spins and Turns (Group Class)

· We are still in our first summer series
concentrating on an advanced Silver and Open Bolero with lots of spins and
turns.
1. Spot turns...turning around a spot with complete weight changes from foot to foot.
1A. Directional Spot Turns...dictated by the pattern this turn can take on angles.
2. Pivot Turns...these turns can create a rocking
action or travel.
3. Spiral Turns...a turn towards the opposite standing
side with or without connection.
3A. Curls...a turn towards the opposite standing side
with rise and connection.
4. Spins...complete turn of the body over one foot.
5. Delayed Walk....a turn preceded by an extension.
6. Turning Latin Walk...a turn preceded by a
full-weighted step.
7 Swivels...turn of the body over a series of weight
transferences with or without connection.
8. Paddles Turns...used mostly in Samba, this turn is
much like a spot turn and uses whole and part weight steps.
9. Pencil Turns...turn of the body over one foot, with
or without connection, and always with wind up
9A. Coupe Turns...turn of the body over one foot with
free leg held in elegant line and always with connection to partner.
10. Chěne Turns...a series of turning weight changes
that requires spotting and much study.

This is an ongoing class in the Silver levels of American Style Smooth and American Style Rhythm with strict emphasis on syllabus instructions, such as amounts of turn and floor direction. There is great emphasis on the music and combinations. This class is informative, constructive, and very fun. This session we are working with:
